Particulates Spill Kits — Technical Information & Usage Guidance
Absorbency Summary:
Loose absorbents (peat, or mineral sponge): variable capacity depending on application rate.
EnviroproNZ supplies multiple kit configurations to suit different workplace environments, spill volumes, and hazards.
Material Summary
Particulate absorbents designed for liquid spill control using absorbent peat or mineral sponge. These loose absorbents rapidly encapsulate liquids, reduce slip hazards, and support safe cleanup of oils, fuels, coolants, paints, water‑based solutions, and many non‑aggressive chemicals. Absorbent peat provides high natural absorbency with variable uptake depending on moisture content. Mineral sponge offers consistent performance also with variable absorption rates.
Suitability
Particulates Spill Kits are suitable for managing general workshop and industrial liquid spills. Suitability depends on whether the kit contains absorbent peat or mineral sponge:
Absorbent Peat — Suitable for oils, fuels, lubricants, coolants, paints, detergents, emulsions, and mixed‑liquid spills. Ideal where high natural absorbency is preferred and variable uptake is acceptable.
Mineral Sponge — Suitable for oils, fuels, paints, water‑based liquids, and non‑aggressive chemicals. Ideal for indoor/outdoor areas needing a granular absorbent that stays in place, offers consistent performance, and provides odour control.
Both absorbent types are ideal for workshops, warehouses, transport depots, manufacturing lines, engineering facilities, maintenance areas, processing plants, and any environment where mixed‑liquid leaks or spills may occur.
Available in 140L and 240L wheelie‑bin kits.
Limitations
Not suitable for:
Strong acids
Strong alkalis
Oxidisers
Highly reactive chemicals
Unknown substances
Situations requiring chemical neutralisation
For these spill types, a Chemical Spill Kit with a Neutraliser may be required.
Compliance Note
Supports HSWA and EPA requirements for managing general liquid spills in New Zealand workplaces.
